Care. Cultivate. Celebrate.
Welcome to the birthplace of tomorrow’s leaders. Welcome to the harbinger of young minds committed towards transforming our future. Welcome to Thakur International School.
Our core educational philosophy revolves around the three ingots: Care! Cultivate! Celebrate!
At Thakur International School, we aspire to care for our students. Our dedicated staff is entrusted with the task of nurturing their personalities through interactive teaching methods. The idea is to create a relaxed environment which not only enhances learning opportunities but also strengthens trust between teachers and students. The deep rooted caring approach of the school also manifests in balanced programmes, regular parent-teacher communication, and an environment encouraging enthusiasm and imagination in students.
The well-defined curriculum cultivates positivity in students and guides them through their growing years. Be it excursions, art, theatre, music, sports or student clubs, our students experience a plethora of activities gaining confidence in every step they take. This also fosters in them, a deep sense of belonging and pride. We ensure that, while students learn to value their culture, they also learn to respect and assimilate other cultures. Thus, TIS strives to embed in the minds of students a sense of self-discipline coupled with social responsibility.
TIS celebrates the individuality of every student and plays a pivotal role in shaping the character of the citizens of tomorrow. We pursue the development of the cognitive skills to help students realize their true potential and aspire to become model human beings who are not only ideal citizens, but also smart and talented to carve a niche for themselves as leaders in the society.
Multi-faceted and equipped with a scientific demeanour, the students of TIS are motivated to win the world and hence stand a cut above the rest.
To promote all young learners towards becoming responsible global citizens who are inquisitive, intelligent and intellectual in their approach to their own lives and the world.
To provide an inspiring ambience where young minds can be groomed to build a harmonious world and reach the heights of excellence ingrained with ethical values.
(Grades IX & X)
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a class X level qualification with global recognition and acceptance. Founded in 1988, IGCSE offers a comprehensive two-year programme that develops students into competitive and creative beings for our modern world of information, science and change.
Spread over classes IX and X, IGCSE culminates in final examinations every May and November. IGCSE evaluations are carried out by Edexcel (also known as London Examinations) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), two UK based bodies. An IGCSE passed student is considered eligible for all +2 level or pre-university level national and international qualifications, such as Cambridge ‘ A’ Level or the IB diploma Programme of International Baccalaureate.
To diagnose students' readiness for IGCSE, TIS administers Primary Checkpoint and Checkpoint diagnostic tests (conducted by Cambridge International Examination Syndicate) at the end of Primary and Middle School programmes, respectively. We will begin holding Primary Checkpoint tests from Nov 2015. It has already been offering Checkpoint tests every May.
IGCSE offers a wider range of subjects and encourages higher academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. Assessment is not limited to conventional written papers, but consists of a variety of oral and listening tests. The assessment aims at a wide ability range and takes place across an eight-point grading scale from A+ to G. The curriculum is balanced and flexible. It offers a choice between core curriculum and extended curriculum for most of the subjects and gives students of all abilities and interests the freedom to choose subjects as per their interests.
IGCSE is tailored for a multi-cultural and multi-lingual audience. Its core curriculum is an overview of every subject and is suitable for students who are expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum, a subject-wise specialization, is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A+ to C. IGCSE offers its students an excellent preparation for university, employment and life through its valuable international benchmark of learner performance.
We use our IGCSE programme to develop our students into responsible 21st century individuals who are confident of working with information and ideas. We engender in them a reflective ability that enhances learning and assimilation. With innovative processes, we encourage them to become aware of new and future challenges. The IGCSE curriculum engages them both, intellectually and socially, and moulds them into people who create and improve society: People who make a difference.
Thakur International School, a place where young minds are trained to conquer the world with reason, imagination and vision.
TIS- CIE has well qualified, experienced and caring teachers. Our efforts are directed at creating a faculty that can be entrusted with the important task of guiding your child on the path to excellence. In order to cater to the needs of students following the Cambridge education system, our faculty is trained by Cambridge University through face-to-face or online workshops. The staff is categorised into trained graduates for the Primary School section, and trained post-graduates for Middle and Secondary School sections. We take serious interest in the professional development of our faculty. We ensure that they take part in the on-going processes that improve pedagogy and use appealing strategies to enhance the learning of students. This year too, the teachers will undergo a series of workshops to improve classroom strategies and pedagogical practices.
Teacher to Student Ratio
Our teacher-student ratio is well balanced to provide individual attention to pupils. This results in a greater engagement between teachers and students, and the emergence of a substantial trust between them. In the long run it benefits students immensely by making them assimilate knowledge, practices and imbibe values.
Thakur International School has in-house counsellors who form a vital part of its academic team. Not only do they propel students towards academic achievement, but they also look into these students' personal/social development. The counselling they give contribute to students' career development and ensures that today's students become productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. Thakur International School's counsellors are trained to have a patient ear and are adept at helping children cope with life's challenges, make decisions, and stand up for themselves. Thakur International School, therefore, encourages its students to turn not only to their teachers, but also to their counsellors when they need help.
